Pinnacle Betting App
Branded as Pinnacle Lite, this top sports betting brand does have an app but not yet in NZ. There is a very good range of sportsbook odds and many live games to bet on despite its name. The app is quick and easy to download and has a particularly nice interface. NZ players get the same service but on the mobile site instead.
Everything is easy to find there and a full range of banking and sports betting options are available, comparable to the main site. Be aware though, that there is no bonus available for players. This is not unique to the mobile site. However, we found the main sports betting and casino sites to have the same unfortunate policy during our review. Players can use the Pinnacle mobile betting site on various devices.
Using the Pinnacle Mobile Site on Android and iOS
The Pinnacle mobile betting site is used in the same way as an iOS or Android app. To use the mobile website, simply follow these steps:
-
Open up the browser on your iOS or Android phone or tablet.
-
Search for ‘Pinnacle’.
-
Click on the Pinnacle betting site.
-
Tap on the ‘Share’ icon and pin the website to your home screen.
-
Tap on the icon on your home screen to open the web page just like an app and then bet.
The process means no downloading. The mobile site is quick and simple to use, as we found in our review.
Pinnacle’s Mobile Website Features
Being that you can’t yet download a Pinnacle betting app in NZ, you can still use your mobile to use the Pinnacle sportsbook and other features. The mobile version of the main site is a very comprehensive one. Features include:
- Full A-Z of sports betting odds and markets.
- Strong list of live betting options.
- Casino, live casino, virtual sports and eSports.
- Help and support options.
- Full banking suite featuring all the same options as the main online site.
The mobile site works even better than the mobile app used in other countries, arguably. Everything that is found on the main site can be accessed via the mobile version.
All you need is 3G or above, ideally WiFi of course, and you can get fair sports betting odds while you’re on the move.
The dark blue and white colour scheme keeps the mobile site looking professional. Live-action is in high quality, and, other than the lack of bonus offers, the mobile version of Pinnacle is at least equal to its main rivals among New Zealand betting sites.
What to Bet on Using Pinnacle Mobile
Once you have the Pinnacle betting app or mobile site, you’ll have access to a fine range of odds and markets comparable with many top betting sites. On the mobile site, a strong range of casino games is available. You’ll also find a great sportsbook, and we found plenty in our review to satisfy players.
Sports Betting
Naturally, straight-up sports betting is what Pinnacle is all about. On the mobile site you can find plenty of odds available on 22 sports and events, namely: Aussie rules, badminton, baseball, basketball, boxing, chess, cricket, darts, entertainment, eSports, Formula 1, golf, handball, hockey, MMA, politics, rugby league, rugby union, snooker, soccer, tennis and volleyball.
This is a good list, and we found in our review that the odds on most games tend to be fair. As with many other sites online, soccer is the main focus here. Upwards of 1000 odds markets can be accessed at any one time. Tennis and basketball are also strong, though we’d like to see some work done with horse racing too.
Live Centre
The live centre is where punters can access a number of in-play sports betting odds. Live soccer, tennis, baseball, basketball and hockey games are all particularly popular. Once again, odds compare well with other betting sites when it comes to the live centre.
If you bet on the move, hence using mobile, the live betting is a much-needed feature as instead of researching games in advance, you can simply see how they are playing out before making a more informed, up-to-the-second decision.
Virtual and eSports
Virtual and eSports, especially the latter, are a big part of what Pinnacle does these days. Live online matches and tournaments include ESL Pro League and League of Legends. Rainbow Six, Wild Rift, King of Glory and more are also priced up to bet on.
eSports are somewhat of a specialist concern. If you do happen to know something about such games and you want to bet, then the mobile site is perfect as it is very much something you want to do away from the formality of a laptop or other desktop device.
Advantages of Using Pinnacle Mobile
If you’re willing to use your iOS or Android mobile phone or tablet anyway, many wonder why bother with the Pinnacle Betting app when the mobile site is available. It’s true that there are pluses and negatives with using an app. In the first instance, some people just prefer it. Having apps all in one place on the screen and available with one tap is an advantage for many.
Most of the time, logging in is easier and quicker via app versus mobile betting sites. After a loss of connection, for example, players can be logged out of sites while they stay logged in via the app. With a short pin needed, or in some cases even TouchID or FaceID, you can log into a mobile site account as quickly as you could with the Pinnacle betting app.
Instead of searching through your browser, you can pin the Pinnacle mobile site to your home screen. This means accessing the site in the same way you would an app. Doing it like this means you won’t lose your place once you’ve looked at other sites on your browser. There is also no need to search for updates to ensure you have the latest version of the app.
Also, there is more to bet on with the mobile version of Pinnacles sites. Quick links to casino, eSports, live centre, live casino and more are a click away via browser. Though it’s only required once of course, the other disadvantage of the app is that you need to download it. Now it is free, but via browser, there is no download needed, and you can still pin the site to your homepage.
Main Pros and Cons of the Mobile Site vs the Main Site
The main ups and downs of the mobile site according to our review:
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
✔️ Fast login available | ❌ Bigger screen on the laptop version |
✔️ One-tap opening – pin the site to your screen | ❌ Potential for poor service (internet) |
✔️ Dedicated design – no need for updates |
System Requirements for the Pinnacle Mobile Site
If the pros outweigh the cons for you and you use the mobile site, make sure you have the right device. Many mobiles and tablets differ greatly from each other in terms of spec. Any modern smart device however can handle the Pinnacle mobile site as well as a sports betting app.
Any recent Android or iOS (Apple) device will be fine. The site is designed for such phones and tablets. One key point to remember, though is making sure your screen is big enough. If not, this can halt your experience, especially of live games.
As well as the strength of your operating system, think about your data use too. If you’re on WiFi when using a phone or tablet, that’s fine. Otherwise, you’ll be going through plenty of data when betting live, so always keep that in mind.
Making Payments Via the Mobile Site
New Zealand players have the same banking options via the mobile site as on the desktop version. For deposits in NZD, our review found the following options at Pinnacle mobile:
Method | Deposit/Withdrawal | Limits |
---|---|---|
Litecoin | Both | $5 – $14,000 ($20 fee for withdrawals) |
USDT Tether | Both | $700 – $139,000 ($20 fee for withdrawals) |
Bitcoin | Both | $5 – $14,000 ($15 minimum for withdrawals, $20 fee) |
ecoPayz | Both | $15 – N/A ($20 fee for withdrawals) |
Skrill | Both | $15 – N/A (for deposits) $15 – $75,000 (withdrawals, $20 fee) |
Interestingly, Pinnacle makes no mention of Visa and Mastercard. We couldn’t get this option during our review, which we found unusual. That said, the customer service team is on hand, and they can assist you with that, even via mobile.
Pinnalce Betting App Conclusion
Overall, we liked the Pinnacle mobile betting site, but we appreciate more can be done. A dedicated Pinnacle betting app would be nice to see. The payment methods available could do with some work. Firstly, there is as much to bet on over on the mobile website as via desktop. If you are heavily into casino games or you’re looking for a bonus, this won’t be for you.
We did like how intuitive the mobile site was, however, and it’s always handy to have your betting options just a tap of the screen away as opposed to having to open a browser and search for a web address on your laptop.
If you aren’t concerned about one-tap login or don’t want a download, the mobile site is a good alternative to an app. That option comes with many more betting markets. You are also always one click away from casino options, eSports and Virtual Sports, and you can always pin the icon to your home screen.
